Senior golfers visit museum

Senior golfers visit museum

Some 35 members and their friends attended a guided tour of the special exhibition of Emperor Kangxi at the Asian Civilisations Museum. The curator of the exhibition conducted the tour and it was most interesting and informative. Members learnt of Kangxi’s wise reign and his achievements. There were exhibits from the Palace Museum in Beijing and the Chinese Archives some of which were travelling for the first time,
On display was a gown worn by the Emperor, his royal seal hunting gear and armour. There were scrolls recording Emperor Kangxi’s visits to the various parts of his empire. Of particular interest was a copy of the imperial exam script submitted by one of the scholars.
Really a rare opportunity to see artifacts ffrom China. For those who were aat the Asian Civilisations Museum for the first time, it was an eye opener. They did not realize that we have such a world class museum. Members asked for more such visits. – extract from SSGS NEWS Aug 09.
