Message from the Captain
To My Fellow Golfers
First off, I would like to thank Past-Captain Raymond Tan for his assiduous efforts over the past years to guide the golfing activities of the Society. Having worked together closely with him for over two years, in many ways, I am familiar with the programmes we have followed and have used these as a basis for our forward plans for the year.
For this calendar year wef January 2011, we already had two overseas trips ( Thailand and Malaysia) and five monthly medals to- date. For the overseas trip, it was a learning experience for me as I tried to inject a little more fun and a little less early-wake up time into the mix. I think its safe to say that many enjoyed the Thai trip which saw playing in the ancient city of Ayuthaya and Bangkok with many wonderful meals thrown in, For Malaysia, we decided to start the trip in Penang and then worked our way down the peninsular stopping in Ipoh, Kl and Malacca for golf games. I have my ideas how the trip can be improved in future but I always say nothing ventured nothing gained!
In July, our team of 34 players will head to the Philippines for the 28th Asean Senior Amateur Golf Championship which will be played on two courses adjacent to the old US Air Base located in Clark. Some of us have already played on the courses so there is an element of home-ground advantage existing! After Clark, we will head south to Manila for one or two additional games while staying at Crowne Plaza Hotel located adjacent to the gigantic Mega Mall
I have asked our travel advisors to look into one more overseas trip-at present, the destination
hasn’t been decided but there has been interest in Perth , Australia and also China. This will be in the third or fourth quarter of this year. Watch this page!
Finally, our monthly medals and other important events will proceed as normal under the due care of our office manager, Patrick Kat and his assistant Nancy.
Happy Golfing
