October Medal
SSGS Medal – 28 October 2009 –
Orchid Country Club
There were 40 participants for the medal With more new members joining SSGS, we can expect more participations in future games.. The weather was fine except that there were occasional patches of dark clouds threatening around the course. Seletar Country Club ( opposite the Orchid Country Club) even sounded their siren. Play still carried on at OCC.
All participants finally completed their round and were very happy and relieved that all went well. Lunch was satisfactory. All agreed that the golf package was value for money. Thanks to Orchid Country Club for according members of SSGS special concession rates.

TAN AH LYE
Congratulations to Tan Ah Lye
SSGS Senior Vice President
Members are aware that many of our senior golfers have achieved distinctions in their professional and social lives. Some are in the top ranks of the National Day Awards list. We have doctors who are pioneers in their fields. We have those who sacrifice their time and leisure to serve society.
We now want to acknowledge an entrepreneur in our midst who has done us proud. Senior Vice President Tan Ah Lye was in the top 3 spots in this year’s Enterprise 50 Awards. He started his construction and heavy equipment company in 1968. The company has been involved in big projects like the MacRitchie viaduct. His son is now running the business and Ah Lye, hopefully, is now playing more golf and helping SSGS.
Do let us know of members who have distinguished themselves so that we can feature them in our Newsletter?
